Rustic and Intimate Wedding at The Shack Revolution in Hereford

Miranda and Joe knew they wanted a simple and beautiful wedding from the beginning, and focused on creating long-lasting memories. A carefully handpicked ceremony guest list of just 30 close family members and friends gave them the intimate and special atmosphere they craved. They stumbled upon The Shack Revolution when Joe played a gig at the venue a few years before and was taken with the modern and non-traditional vibes.

Booking a wedding venue in Hereford City Centre was a big plus for the couple because of how convenient and central it is. But we're humbled to learn that The Coodes would have chosen our venue wherever we were located.

Miranda has kindly given us insight into their aesthetic, wedding day priorities, favourite memories and why they choose The Shack Revolution. She gives some invaluable tips on how to get started planning a wedding.

What attracted you to The Shack Revolution?

We both ate at The Shack when it was a restaurant, and Joe played a gig there a few years ago, so we had both seen the building previously and knew we loved the location and the vibes.

Ultimately, the main thing that we loved was that it was such a different and modern venue compared to many others in the area. I absolutely love that it’s not a traditional venue and has an industrial & a bit rustic feel. (Also, none of our friends had gotten married there, and we liked the idea of being the first ones to have a wedding there in our circle of people! Ha!)

I knew I wanted to get married one day, but I was never the little girl who daydreamed of it or the girl that had a Pinterest board ready for when the day came.

What kind of wedding did you have in mind and did this change at all?

This is an interesting question because I had no idea what kind of wedding I wanted when we got engaged! I knew I wanted to get married one day, but I was never the little girl who daydreamed of it or the girl that had a Pinterest board ready for when the day came.

When we started talking about what we wanted right after we got engaged, we knew that we wanted something simple & beautiful. Nothing sparkly and big! It became a bit more simple as we decided to do a very small ceremony with just family and close friends as the process went on. We stayed close to what we envisioned at the beginning, and it was the most perfect day!

What were the most important factors for your wedding day?

The most important factor of our wedding day was family, friends, food & memories!

We knew that we wanted the food to be yummy and that people would remember! We had Origin Pizza cater for us, and they were a HIT! Their pizza is absolutely incredible, and our guests were even cheering for them every time they walked in to bring a new pizza to a table.

We also knew that we wanted to have our day documented well so that we had something tangible to look back on and remember the day. We had our good friends at SureFooted Media do photography and videography for the day, and that was an investment at the top of our priorities!

Lastly, the other factor that we put a lot of thought into was who we actually had at our wedding. My family is from America and could not be in the UK for the wedding, so we were very intentional about who we had at our ceremony. We did a very small ceremony with just 30 family members and close friends, and it was so special.

It was so special to stand there for a second and see the faces of all of our friends and family who were truly elated and so excited to celebrate us! It was a magical moment!

What advice would you give to couples at the start of their wedding journey?

I would say that the first priority is securing your venue, food, and photos! After you book those things in, find someone who can help you put everything into motion!

You will have so many things to think about and plan that it is good to have someone to help you organize your thoughts and get things done. I had my good friend Emily help me plan all the details and then coordinate on the day of. I could fully relax and enjoy the whole wedding day because I had someone making sure everything flowed well on the day of!

What is your favourite moment from the day?

After our small ceremony, all of our other guests for the evening party started to arrive. At the same time, Joe and I left the venue to make a grand entrance later on. When we arrived back at the venue, we stood outside for a few moments while the anticipation was building. When we walked into the venue, everyone was cheering as our arrival was announced. We walked in and then stood and looked at everyone there and took it all in for a moment.

Obviously, your wedding day is about you, but it was so special to stand there for a second and see the faces of all of our friends and family who were truly elated and so excited to celebrate us! It was a magical moment!

Were there any stressful moments?

For the most part, our day was very stress-free. I think that has to do with having a few people that I told to make sure everything ran smoothly and did just that!

I felt a bit stressed when my bridesmaids and I were running late getting to the venue. We had a pretty detailed schedule for the day to run smoothly, and I don’t like being late! But, I had to sit back and remember that this day was literally about me! And people could wait. It wasn’t about them. Ha!

What is your favourite feature of The Shack Revolution?

I would have to say the exposed brick & greenery on the walls. The simple industrial look made it easy to do literally whatever we wanted for decor. I think almost anything would have matched and looked great with the interior!

Why did you decide on a city wedding?

Other than it being an incredible location, central for everyone to get to, I think we would have chosen The Shack wherever it was located. We loved having our wedding here! Loved the look of the building, and we absolutely loved the staff that we got to work with.

Thank you so much to Miranda and Joe Coode for sharing their photos and day with us, it’s truly appreciated and we hope it inspires and helps other couples.
